Meet Your Teacher
My name is Matt Avery and I'm a 5th grade teacher at Brentwood Elementary School. I was born in Sarasota and attended Fruitville Elementary, Macintosh Middle, and Cardinal Mooney. I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and from the University of Florida with my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in Educational Technology. Go Gators!!! This year is my 12th year with the county. I spent 8 years at Venice Middle as an 8th grade Math teacher and Instructional Technology Facilitator (renamed Instructional Technology Coach). This year is my 4th at Brentwood, with the first 3 years as the Technology Coach. In addition, I am a softball coach for Riverview High School.
