This is only a REQUIRED assignment for students wishing to go to the Daytona State Competition in the spring.

This is an OPTIONAL PROJECT for all others.

Poetry Recitiation Selection Guidelines:
German Level 1: 3-4 stanzas with 100 or less vocabulary words which are easily pronounced.
German Level 2: 4-7 stanzas with up to 200 vocabulary words.
German Level 3: 7-12 stanzas with lines longer in length and more than 200 words.
German Level 4: narrative poems (sound like a story)

German Poetry Writing Guidelines:

Haiku - Ein kurzes Gedicht mit 3 Zeilen. Die erste besteht aus 5 Silben, die zweite aus 7, und die dritte aus 5. Der japanischen Tradition nach sollte die erste Zeile etwas mit der Natur oder einer Jahreszeit zu tun haben:

ein Winterabend
ich schlafe vor dem Feuer
Katze auf dem Schoß

Drachengedicht - Ein Substantiv, zwei Adjektive, drei Zeitwörter, ein Satz mit vier oder fünf Silben, dann noch ein Substantiv:

Schweine
schmutzig, faul
fressen, schlafen, grunzen
Ich mag sie nicht
Schinken
