Our Classroom Rules
- Listen when someone is speaking.
- Raise your hand and wait to be called on if you have
something to say in class.
- Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
- Walk in the classroom and in the hallways.
- Respect the belongings of others.
At
the end of every day, I mark every student’s agenda book with a color stamp for
behavior and comments for you to initial and reply if needed. It is the student’s
responsibility to show you the agenda book and blue communication folder every
day. Different colored stamps are used to indicate different things:
*
A lion stamp means that the student was caught being good and has earned Cat Cash. * A green stamp means the
student met my behavior expectations for the day.
*
A yellow stamp shows
that the student had difficulty following all of the directions during the day,
and that a privilege has been lost.
*
A red stamp shows that the student either had a
major behavior problem during the day, or that several rules were broken and
behavior did not change after many warnings.
My
intent is to be both positive and consistent in my efforts to help students
monitor their behaviors and to ensure a happy and productive learning
environment. I look for opportunities to encourage, praise and empower the
children to make good choices.
One
example of positive motivation is the marble jar. Marbles will be added to a
jar when the class gets a compliment; the class will earn a special treat when
the jar is full. Another example is our Cool Cats Club store. Students earn Cat Cash through respectful and responsible behavior. Each month, they have the opportunity to buy items from the store.
